Artist Spotlight: Art By Megan

Published Date : 7th Jul 2023

With an attitude of experimentation and a keen eye for beautiful landscapes, Megan Collars is one of our favorite artists that use Art To Frames as her go-to source for framing her art.

When did you get started making art professionally?

I have always made art, but I began working at my business full-time 3 years ago in Brooklyn, NY.  I currently work out of my home and from my studio at Industry City in Sunset Park.

Where does your urge to create art come from and why do you create art?

Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved making art.  I love experimenting and creating new work as much as possible and always have a million ideas in my mind.  I love painting, drawing, making collages, and doing little sketches to keep my mind fresh. I create because I love it and it keeps me inspired, but I run this business because I love it and want to follow my passion.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by travels and waterscapes around the world.  I love seeing the light change as the sun rises and sets, I am in love with impressionism and seek to capture specific moments in time in my work.

How do Art To Frames products fit into your artwork and what role do we play in your business?

I am happy to offer framing options to my clients through Art to Frames and love working with a local business to do so!

What do you find most rewarding about being an artist?

I find it most rewarding to be able to do what I love for a living.  I am very grateful for the chance to make art every day and continue to be inspired by other strong women running their own businesses.

What do you look for in a frame as it relates to your artwork?

I want to provide a quality product with excellent matting for my clients at a good price point!

What medium do you use?

I primarily work in acrylic paints but often incorporate colored pencils, oil pastels, and watercolors into my work as well.  I love to work on both canvas and paper so that I can offer a variety of textures and sizes to my clients.
